Your Physical Education Department along with the American Heart Association is teaming up to create a valuable service learning opportunity for our students. On Friday, February 3rd, we will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart.
This event will provide your child a memorable and rewarding experience while learning about the importance of Physical Education and daily physical activity. A number of studies show that increased physical activity is linked to better school performance. Regular periods of moderate to vigorous physical activity enhance the health, academic performance, attitudes and classroom behavior of students.
Our theme this year is Super Hero! For organizational purposes, students will be grouped into various “Super Hero” characters. In addition, they are encouraged to wear any clothing representing a Super Hero or anything red that represents the American Heart Association!
Family and friends are welcome to support your child’s volunteer efforts by making contributions. Your student has been given a collection envelope for that purpose. Checks for all donations should be made payable to the American Heart Association. As a 501© status non-profit organization, donations are tax deductible. In addition, we welcome all families and friends to join us on the day of the event to watch the Jumpathon! Here are the designated times:
4th Grade: 12:45 – 1:30pm
3rd Grade: 2:15 – 3:00pm
Location: Anderson Gym
Your child can raise funds on-line! Step by step instructions about our simple on-line donation program are provided on the back flap of the collection envelope.
